Blocklist is a function used to filter out respondents that should not be contacted via E-mail or SMS sendouts. A respondent that is added to the block list will never be contacted with any sendouts from the survey distribution of that account.
How do I add respondents to the blocklist?
To add respondents to the blocklist you will have an open text area available on the blocklist page. As the description says you will need to add the e-mail addresses in the open text area and make sure that you separate all the e-mail addresses by either “;” “,” or a single row break.
Once you have added all the adresses that you wish to add to the account blocklist you will need to click one of the selectable lists, “Add to Bounce list” or “Add to Block list” and the addresses will immediately be added to the list.
What is the difference between block and bounce list?
The main difference is in name only. As functionality goes there is no difference. An address that is added to the bounce list reacts the same way as an adress that is added to the block list. It is just two different categories that you can use to filter addresses.
If you do sendouts from your account where you include “Opt-Out”-links to your e.mail sendouts, all respondents that click this opt-out link are automatically added to the Block list.
In case it is relevant for you to keep track of how many respondents use the opt-out links of your sendouts we recommend you to use the Bounce list as a separate list for those addresses you add manually while the Block list is exclusively for those that opt-out of sendouts.
How do I view addresses that are added to the block list?
To view addresses that are added to the blocklist of your account you can scroll down underneath the open text area and you will see all the addresses that are currently in the Bounce or Block lists of your account.
As you can see in the screenshot you be presented with E-mail address and Type. Under Type you will see whether the address is in the Bounce or Block list. You can click the options called Blocked() or Bounce () to filter the list to only view the addresses that have been added to one of the specific lists.
You have further filtering options with the list of letters. If you click on a single letter you will only see the addresses, beginning with that specific letter, that have been added to the blocklist.
At the bottom of the screen you have the option to Delete an address from the blocklist, or Export the blocklist to Excel. To Delete an address from the blocklist you can mark the checkbox to the left of the e-mail address in the list and then press Delete and that address will no longer be blocked from receiving sendouts.
